What inspired you to attend a Teach Portsmouth Event? When did you go?

I was inspired to attend the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair as I was considering a career change from the hospitality sector to education. A friend sent me a link to the event, and I decided to book a ticket to explore my options.

I have attended several of the jobs fairs and I learned about the various roles available in education and the steps I needed to take to achieve my goal of transitioning into this sector. Once my child started full-time school, I had time to attend courses that would help me pursue my new career. 

How did the Community Learning Service support you during the Teach Portsmouth event? 

The Community Learning Service was instrumental during the Teach Portsmouth event.

They were welcoming, supportive, and offered guidance on the steps I needed to take to transition into the education sector. They introduced me to various opportunities that aligned with my aspirations of becoming an early years teaching assistant and provided the encouragement and resources I needed to take the first steps on this new journey. 

What training have you completed with the Community Learning Service? Are you planning to take on further training with them? 

I have completed several training courses with the Community Learning Service. This includes courses to keep up-to-date with my children's learning, NCFE Level 2 Support Work in Schools and Colleges, principles of AI course as well as Functional Skills level 2 in English.

I am currently working towards the Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths, and I am excited to attend the upcoming Principles of Safeguarding course as well.

Their support has been invaluable, and every course I've completed has not only enhanced my skills but also built my confidence. I want to continue expanding my knowledge and qualifications to ensure I'm fully equipped for a career in education.

The Community Learning Service has profoundly influenced my plans after completing my training. They have helped me develop a structured pathway to achieve my goal of becoming an early years teaching assistant.

Through their courses and encouragement, I have gained practical knowledge and experience that align with my aspirations, and I feel more confident in pursuing opportunities within the education sector.
