Cosham's community came together to discover careers in education at the Teach Portsmouth Support and Teaching Assistant Jobs Fair on Wednesday 20 November 2024.

Over 70 people visited Cosham Community Centre between 10am and 2pm to learn about opportunities to help children and young people reach their potential. 

The city's education workforce came together to celebrate two decades of service at an awards ceremony held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Wednesday 26 June 2024. 87 people from primary, secondary and special schools were put forward by their peers to attend an afternoon tea and trophy giving in recognition of their achievements.

Over 100 people attended a special event to learn about jobs and opportunities in the city's schools and colleges. The Teach Portsmouth Support and Teaching Assistant Jobs Fair invited local experts including a teaching assistant apprentice and deputy head teacher, to share their expertise, in the hopes of inspiring others to join the profession. 

An initiative to increase the number of support staff in Portsmouth's schools has been hailed a success, 12-months after it launched. Taster sessions are designed to help people boost their confidence before applying for a job. 

After the success of last year's event, the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair returned to Guildhall on Monday 26 February 2024. More than 300 people were welcomed through the big bronze doors to discover careers in the classroom.

If you are interested in becoming a teaching assistant in Portsmouth, a new initiative to inspire people to 'support their classroom' has launched with a special information event at Portsmouth Central Library on Tuesday 5 July from 10am - 12pm. 

A virtual meet and greet was held with two nursery workers on Monday 17 January during Portsmouth Aspirations Week in the hope of inspiring children, young people and professionals to consider a career in the sector. Teach Portsmouth presents early years education offered delegates information on how to become qualified as a nursery worker alongside progression opportunities available in the city. 

Teach Portsmouth's webinar series returns in the new year to showcase the incredible careers in early years education, in particular nurseries. 

A webinar for future teachers successfully showcased the rewards of the profession by focusing on special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and the need to support children and young people in the city.
